PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– As the nearby Rhode Island Convention Center prepares to host a memorial service for Judge Frank Caprio, Providence Place Mall has announced that parking will be free for certain hours on Thursday afternoon.

Caprio’s public visitation is set to be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, and the mall said it will waive parking fees and open up the garage from 3 p.m. through 8 p.m.

In a statement, a mall spokesperson said that the decision was inspired by Caprio’s legacy.

“Judge Caprio was known worldwide for his kindness and fairness,” the statement read. “ Providence Place honors his legacy by supporting downtown Providence visitors during this time of remembrance.”
