UDPATE: In a 5–4 vote, the Chattanooga City Council rejected Councilman Chip Henderson’s amended proposal for a $1.73 property tax rate, instead advancing Mayor Tim Kelly’s $1.93 rate.

The approved rate will move to a second reading on Tuesday, September 9, when the council will take a final vote to set the city’s new property tax rate.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Chattanooga City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday afternoon at City Hall beginning at 3:30pm, hearing feedback about the $1.69 property tax rate plan proposed by Councilmen Chip Henderson (District One) and Jeff Davis (District Three).
