An NFL journeyman who spent two seasons with the Detroit Lions was among the San Francisco 49ers’ roster cuts heading into the 2025 season.
Bruce Hector, who signed with the 49ers earlier this August, is back on the free-agent market after the team announced his release. All NFL teams had to finalize their 53-man rosters by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline.
Hector, 30, has bounced around the NFL since entering the league as an undrafted free agent after no team selected him in the 2018 NFL Draft. His NFL journey began that year when he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he had two separate stints. Hector also suited up for the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets (three stints), Houston Texans (two stints) and the United Football League’s Arlington Reneg
