BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport officially began its facility expansion Tuesday evening with a groundbreaking ceremony. The turf facilities are expected to be complete by April 1.

The $7.5 million, 219,000-square-foot turf facility will feature customizable fields that can be configured for multiple sports via movable fences or paintable lines, including space for two full-size soccer or football fields, two baseball fields with 300-foot dimensions, or four softball fields.

"I know each and every one of us (on City Council) are very proud of our community, and the growth and projects like you see here," Bridgeport Mayor Robert Matheny said. "And I'm just so excited to be part of that."

Officials hope these new fields will attract travel sports teams
