MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — Morgantown City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening, approving funding requests for recreation projects, authorizing the sale of surplus city property and giving first approval to two ordinances that will affect city finances and code enforcement.

Before moving into legislative business, council recognized Morgantown Police Lt. Jason Ammons with the “Above and Beyond” Community Spotlight award.

Earlier this summer, Ammons was contacted after a family’s motor home became stranded on the side of U.S. Route 119. The family had already lost their home to a fire and was relying on a mobile home as their residence. The vehicle had slid into a roadside ditch and could not be moved without significant assistance.
