MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Monongalia County Board of Education held its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening, taking action on a full slate of business, including contracts, personnel matters and policy updates.

Board members approved a measure allowing substitutes to serve in areas of critical need and shortage, a step intended to help ease staffing challenges across county schools.

The board also awarded contracts for paving the Board of Education’s parking lot and purchasing a dishwasher for South Middle School. In addition, members approved new contracts for additions and renovations at the Monongalia County Technical Education Center and an agreement with West Virginia University’s School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
