The collision occurred today just after 9am involving a dump truck and an 18 wheeler truck at the intersection of Alabama highway 273 and County Road 44 north of Leesburg.
The driver of the dump truck was pinned in the wreckage after the collision as the truck overturned. He was extricated by the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and Leesburg Fire. The driver was transported by Atrium Floyd EMS to Gadsden Regional for treatment of injuries. The driver of the 18 wheel tanker truck seemed to escape injury. Both trucks were empty.
Cherokee County EMA was on the scene due to diesel and other fluids spillage. Leesburg Police was investigating.
