GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) - Action News 5 received a disturbing video showing what district officials have confirmed was an attack during dismissal at Germantown High School on Tuesday.

Memphis-Shelby County Schools says a GHS student who had already left campus was chased back onto school property by two unknown individuals, one of whom wielded an apparent handgun.

Cellphone video from an anonymous witness captures the moment the student’s chasers kicked and pistol-whipped him outside Germantown High’s cafeteria.

A crowd of frightened students can be heard screaming and shouting in the footage.

MSCS says the assailants are not associated with the school and that the incident began off-campus.
