EUGENE, Ore. — What began as a peaceful demonstration outside the Eugene Federal Building escalated into tense confrontations Friday as federal agents clashed with protesters opposing recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions.
Protesters gathered in front of the building, chanting, singing, and holding signs denouncing immigration enforcement. Many directed their frustration toward Homeland Security officers, some of whom wore masks and sunglasses while stationed outside federal vehicles.
