ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The St. Albans Police Department is launching an investigation after a 1970s car was discovered in the Kanawha River.

During a training exercise on Tuesday, divers with the St. Albans Fire Department found a car submerged in the river. They say it was nearly 31 feet below the surface.

They say after pulling the car out, it was obvious it had been underwater for decades. The St. Albans Police department is now handling the 1970s era car as evidence in an investigation.
