MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men have been taken into police custody after one of them admitted to bringing a firearm onto the University of Memphis (UofM) campus Monday afternoon.

University police responded to a suspicious person call near the Michael D. Rose Theater Lecture Hall at 470 University Drive at around 5:30 p.m., where they identified one suspect who was harassing students on campus, according to an affidavit. The document goes further to state that another person, Nile Jolley, was detained and told officers that he had a handgun in a backpack while on campus.

A third man was also detained, although the affidavit does not specify his involvement.

Jolley faces one charge of carrying a weapon on school property.
