ST PAUL, Minn. — The primary results are in for two Minnesota Senate special elections.

Senate District 47 covers Woodbury in Washington County and the southern part of Maplewood in Ramsey County. The special election was called after former DFLer Nicole Mitchell stepped down after being convicted of burglary.

The seat in Senate District 29, which includes much of Wright County, and parts of Hennepin and Meeker counties, is open following the sudden passing of GOP Sen. Bruce Anderson.

Two current State Representatives were vying for the DFL nomination in Senate District 47: Rep. Ethan Cha and Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen Jaeger. According to preliminary results, Hemmingsen Jaeger won the primary with over 82% of the vote. She will face the only Republican candidate, Dwight Dorau.
