WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Park City’s City Council approved incentives to fund a $500 million entertainment complex called Champtown, which includes an estimated $145 million in STAR bonds.
The ordinance passed with an 8-1 vote after nearly an hour of presentations from the developers and questions from council members. Ward 2 Council Member George Glover was the only member to oppose the measure.
Charles Schwanke, president of the Park City City Council, noted that large projects like this often raise many questions.
“When you’re dealing with a project that’s over $500 million, there’s a lot of things that have to be put together first before it can actually go ahead, and I think we’re getting to that point where they’re possibly ready to go ahead and get this thing done,” Schwanke said.
