GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — An ordinance was discussed Tuesday night for a temporary moratorium on rezonings in Gallatin.
The Gallatin Planning Commission is pushing for the moratorium because the city is getting all new zoning codes, which include an entirely new zoning map.
Gallatin city planner Brian Rose said that after research from the city's legal department, caselaw suggests that this type of moratorium, when considering adoption of a new zoning code, is an acceptable reason to justify the moratorium.
Rose said the pause is needed so incoming zoning requests won't overlap with old codes. The planning commission is asking for a nine-month pause on rezones or until the new zoning codes are adopted.
