UPDATE: A grand jury has indicted a man over a shooting in March of 2025 on East Brainerd Road that left another man paralyzed.
The indictment, which was handed down on August 19, states that 22-year-old Jakel M. Woods is charged with:
Reckless Endangerment
Possession of Firearm with Prior Violent Felony Conviction
Chattanooga police say on March 25, a man was shot at the intersection of E. Brainerd Road and Brainerd Road as he was stopped at a red light while driving home.
The victim's name was not released but police said the incident left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Woods was arrested on May 29, and was initially charged with attempted first degree murder.
He remains in the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 29
