CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The community is in shock after a young woman was killed on a light rail in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood Friday night.
Friday night’s tragedy has many on edge and largely confused about the attack. Still, riders are using the train— and staying vigilant.
“I don’t know what happened I just hate that it happened. That’s somebody’s daughter, somebody’s kid,” said Charlotte resident Hakeem Alexander.
23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was looking for a fresh start in Charlotte before the deadly stabbing on Friday. Her attack, raising anxiety levels among some riders.
Saif Jaffry is a frequent light rail rider, he said he has some concerns since the tragedy, “especially considering I take it every day to work.”
