Remaining charge against Pa. mother over her baby’s death is dropped

SUNBURY — The remaining criminal charge against a Northumberland County woman stemming from the death of her 6-day-old son has been dropped.

There was insufficient evidence to support charges of recklessly endangering the welfare of a child against Ashley Susana Usadel of Sunbury, District Attorney Michael C. O’Donnell said Tuesday.

It was the same reason he gave in May when an involuntary manslaughter charge against her was withdrawn and a recklessly endangering count against the infant’s father, Travis Smart, was dropped.
