The Candlewood Lake Authority announced Tuesday that they're closing all of their public islands due to overcrowding.
Officials said unsustainable misuse and overcrowding has caused significant public health and safety concerns on Candlewood Lake.

There are 12 islands on the lake. All of them will be closed starting Aug. 29.
The announcement was made on behalf of town officials in Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford and Sherman, as well as Candlewood Lake's owner, FirstLight.
The Candlewood Lake Authority Marine Patrol, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) officials and local police will enforce the closures.
