Since 2023 the Food Bank for the Heartland has seen a 50% increase in food insecurity levels across Nebraska and Western Iowa. Right now, 1 in 7 individuals, or more than 259,000 people, are dealing with food insecurity. Among children they’ve seen a 59% increase. Now 1 in 5 children are experiencing food insecurity. As these rates continue to rise, the gap between the need and available resources has never been wider.
