Authorities have identified a “person of interest” in the suspicious death of an unresponsive Maine man who was left in a car at South Shore Hospital over the weekend, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said Monday.

Declan Perry, 27, of Portland, was wrapped in blankets secured with duct tape when he was discovered in the backseat of a black Honda in front of the emergency room entrance Saturday afternoon. The 2019 Honda Civic had Maine tags, Cruz’s office said in a statement.

Weymouth police were called to the scene at 2:07 p.m., and Perry was pronounced dead eight minutes later.

Law enforcement officials did not disclose the identity of the “person of interest,” but Cruz’s office said, “the victim and the identified person of interest were known to one another.”
