CHICAGO — Police are searching for answers on Wednesday morning after a man was fatally shot inside a home on the city's West Side.

Just before 2 a.m., officers were called to the scene in the 100 block of North Mason Avenue in Austin, following a report of a person shot in the area.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, a 34-year-old man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.

Currently, it is unclear what led up to the shooting and authorities say an investigation is now underway.
