Gracie Abrams paused her concert on Tuesday to congratulate her friend Taylor Swift on her engagement to Travis Kelce. The Close To You singer took to the stage at the Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City just hours after the pop superstar and American football player announced their engagement on social media. Before singing Us, her collaboration with Taylor, Gracie took a few moments out of her show to celebrate the singer's happy news. "I feel like we should be saying a big congratulations to Taylor, who's not here, but everybody, just congratulations to her," Abrams said, prompting rapturous applause from the audience, according to social media footage. "I feel like she's here with us tonight because of this song." Gracie opened for Taylor during many stops on her Eras Tour trek in 2023 and 2024, and their duet appears on Gracie's 2024 album, The Secret of Us. The Shake It Off singer and Kansas City Chiefs player, both 35, announced their engagement on Tuesday by sharing pictures from the proposal in a rose-filled garden. They captioned the post, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." Travis's father, Ed Kelce, revealed on Tuesday that the proposal took place two weeks ago. The pair, who have been dating for two years, have been inundated with supportive messages from fellow celebrities and their famous friends. At the top of Wednesday's episode of New Heights, Travis's joint podcast with his brother Jason, the latter recorded a new message to congratulate the couple. "We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis's one day off," Jason explained before the pre-recorded episode. "So, he is not here to address this himself, but we felt it necessary as a team here at New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged! The proposal heard 'round the world. F**k yeah!" Taylor appeared on New Heights to announce her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, earlier this month.
