(WJET/WFXP) – One dog will soon have a little more faith in humanity after a local shelter came to her rescue.

On Wednesday, August 27, the ANNA Shelter posted on Facebook about an extremely emaciated dog that came into their care the day prior.

According to the post, the dog, a 6-month-old pit bull now affectionately named Faith, had been kept in a crate for a "very very very long time." The shelter said she was in a lot of pain and covered in urine and feces, which caused her to have intense urine scalding.

Luckily for Faith, the ANNA Shelter team worked quickly to bathe her and begin much-needed medical treatments.

Faith is currently under the careful watch of Dr. Sarah Zeigler in the "intensive care isolation area" of the ANNA Wellness Center West.
