SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Excitement is building for this year’s 35th annual Puerto Rican Parade in Springfield.
This parade is a time-honored celebration that embraces the culture, heritage, and the many contributions of the Puerto Rican community in Springfield. Beyond being a celebration, the parade is a testament to resilience, pride, unity, and the power of collective voices.
On Sunday, September 14th, the parade route spans 1.9 miles and steps off at 11 a.m. It will feature Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia as grand marshal with more than 4,000 marchers and thousands of spectators along the route.
This year's theme, "Afro-Boricua" honors the deep African influences that shape Puerto Rican identity from our music, dance, and art to our language, spirituality, and traditions.
