SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - New this year is the Pa’lante 5K being held alongside the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade celebration.

On Sunday, September 14th, racers will line up at Kenefick Park at 8 a.m. and follow the parade route through downtown Springfield. The finish line is at Main and Bridge Streets.

“Pa’lante means moving forward, and this race is a way to embrace our roots, celebrate wellness, and unite our community con orgullo (pride) y corazón (heart),” said Angelle Lopez, Parade Marketing Chair.

The parade will kick off at 11 a.m., featuring Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia as grand marshal with more than 4,000 marchers and thousands of spectators along the route.
