BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- An off-duty NYPD officer was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Wednesday morning, according to police sources.

The 30-year-old cop was riding a Yamaha R1 westbound on the BQE when he was struck by a box truck near the Atlantic Avenue exit at around 8:30 a.m., according to police and sources.

The black bike crashed into a wall and burst into flames.

The officer was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. He has not been identified.

The box truck driver took off after the crash, police said. There have been no arrests.
