Forty students and staff members at an elementary school in Ashland, Massachusetts, were stung by bees as they exited buses for the first day of school on Wednesday.
School Superintendent Jim Adams said the incident occurred as students were exiting buses to enter the Mindess Elementary School on Concord Street on Wednesday morning. He said an underground bees nest near the end of the bus loop was disturbed, and 40 students and staff were stung.
“We immediately called for assistance from our nursing staff and the Ashland Fire Department,” he said. “All students impacted by stings were treated, and families were called.”
“Thankfully, there were no severe reactions, and all students are doing well,” Adams added.
