WALKER, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A woman is dead after a boat crashed into the shoreline on Leach Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, around 1:25 p.m. the sheriff’s office received reports of a boat crashing into the rocks on the shoreline of the south shore of Leach Lake, near Walker City Park.

When officers arrived, they found a 59-year-old woman unresponsive in the boat.

Authorities say she was the only occupant in the boat at the time.

The woman was taken out of the boat and transferred to the Walker airport.

Despite life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead.

The identity of the woman was not released, although it is known that she is from Cass Lake, Minn.

An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
