Vernal Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert around schools and consider their message fair warning. Vernal Police officers have been present at school zones, actively enforcing speed limits and crosswalk laws, and their presence will continue. “We’re starting the school year off right with zero tolerance for violations — no warnings for speeding, distracted driving, or failing to yield to pedestrians,” shared their announcement. And that’s not all. They most recently shared that this week and next week, their department will be conducting state-funded crosswalk enforcement shifts so please stay alert, refrain from distracted driving, watch for pedestrians, and obey all pedestrian traffic laws.
