MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - As part of a week-long operation regarding school safety, the Colorado State Patrol partnered with four different school districts, including Mesa County. Unfortunately, the county finished with the most citations out of the four districts.
CSP stated during the operation in Mesa County, which was from Aug. 18-22, 36 contacts were made and 21 of them ended with a citation of some kind. The citations broke down to 13 for speeding, five for not fastening their seatbelts, one for the passenger's seatbelt not being fastened, one for no insurance and one for careless driving.
Compared to the other school districts, both Chaffee and Douglas counties had one citation each and Jefferson County saw eight.
