CITYWIDE — A MASSIVE EXPANSION OF THE MAYOR’S BIG-RIG TRAINING PROGRAM will enable persons re-entering the job market after serving prison time to earn a sustainable wage.
Mayor Eric Adams and Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice Director Deanna Logan on Wednesday, Aug. 27 announced a major expansion of its successful Commercial Driver’s License training program for justice-involved individuals. The multi-million-dollar investment with workforce-reentry development partner Emerge Career will ensure hundreds of New Yorkers will benefit from the life-changing training, personalized coaching and job placement offered through the program next year, a dramatic increase from 2025’s initial pilot program, in which tuition-free training was offered to 20 participants.
