Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles had difficult decisions to make over the last few days, deciding who to keep and who to cut ahead of Tuesday’s roster deadline . But from the sounds of it, one big decision Roseman made was pretty easy.

The Eagles traded for quarterback Sam Howell on Sunday. Philadelphia sent a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for Howell and a 2026 sixth-rounder.

The move wasn’t a shocker. Tanner McKee, Jalen Hurts’ clear-cut backup, is dealing with a fractured thumb ahead of next Thursday’s season opener. That, combined with sixth-round rookie Kyle McCord having an up-and-down summer, made the trade make sense.
