TOWN OF HOUNSFIELD, New York (WWNY) - As the Watertown International Airport wraps up a nearly $30 million expansion project, word comes that another $7 million in funding is coming from Washington for improvements.
The new money is coming from the federal Airport Improvement Program, which divvies up money collected from things like sales tax on plane tickets to airports across the country.
Jefferson County Administrator Ryan Piche says the funding is a sign of things to come.
“I think what’s going on here is that the state and federal governments are recognizing the momentum that we have at the airport and they always have been really good partners and want to continue to be good partners,” he said.
