LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Tuesday, the Michigan House of Representatives passed its budget ahead of an October 1st deadline to avoid a government shutdown.

The budget includes significant funding for roads and transportation, but makes cuts to the Michigan State Police budget and community programs like Double Up Food Bucks.

Robert Coppersmith, Executive Vice President of the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA), says after seeing the budget, he is pleased.

“They’ve earmarked 3.4 billion, obviously gives our industry some hope that we’re trending in the right direction for some long term stable funding,” he said.
