FORT EDWARD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Following a case of 21 dogs found dead at a dog boarding facility in Argyle, a Fort Edward woman is hoping to turn tragedy into healing with her unique paintings.

Shay DeRusso has been reaching out to the families whose dogs died at Anastasia’s Acres Dog Boarding Facility in Argyle on Sunday. Through each brush stroke, she’s hoping to not only spreading paint across the canvas.

”It just kind of popped in my head like why not give something to these families that they can hold onto,” said DeRusso.

DeRusso has been painting portraits of the dogs who were found dead at the Argyle boarding facility since Tuesday. She said she was inspired by some of her own pain losing her dog a few months ago. However, she said the recent tragedy in Argyle was more than she cou
