EUGENE, Ore. — Faculty and staff at the University of Oregon are raising concerns about the pace and transparency of the university’s ongoing budget review process, which aims to address a projected $25 to $30 million deficit in the education and general fund.

The University has said it is “in the midst of budget reduction conversations across the University… Any reports suggesting that decisions have already been made — including any decisions to close or reduce programs — are inaccurate and premature and may be harmful to many in our community.”

Officials emphasized that the process is guided by consultation with academic leadership, the University Senate, and other campus groups, and that no final decisions on programs or personnel have been made.
