A methodist pastor with roots in the Tennessee Valley died Tuesday morning after he collided with an 18-wheeler while riding a bike.

The Alcoa Police Department says Rowland Buck, 61, was traveling the same direction as a tractor trailer on East Hunt Road when they sideswiped and crashed.

Buck was taken to UT Medical Hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"The Alcoa Police Department extends condolences to Mr. Buck’s family and friends during this difficult time," the department posted on Facebook.

The pastor was most recently serving at the St. Mark's Global Methodist Church in Louisville, TN.
