The city of Georgiana has a new mayor following Tuesday’s elections and this particular appointment to office is one for the record books. Georgiana is making history as the first black woman prepares to take the mayoral seat. Not only is she the first black woman to take the seat Nina Bonner is the first woman to ever sit the mayoral position in Georgiana. Becoming the first woman mayor of Georgiana is a big job. As Georgiana has seen economic growth Mayor Elect Bonner hopes to build on that foundation built by Incumbent Mayor Frank Ledbetter, Bonner jokingly saying quote “He may as well get ready because I will be calling him”.
