NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Talk about a handprint on the heart.
Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters received $100,000 Wednesday to help find a cure for pediatric cancer, taking a literal hands-on approach in the effort.
It's the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program, delivering an impact grant of $100,000 to support clinical research efforts of CHKD's Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
"At CHKD, we care for children and families during what is probably the most difficult time of their lives," said Dr. William Owen of CHKD. "Every year, around 70 local families hear the devastating words for us: 'Your child has cancer,' and in that moment, their life changes forever."
