COLUMBUS, Ohio — As the aftermath of the mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis continues, it can be difficult for parents to know how to talk to their kids about traumatic events.
Betsy Linnell, a Cedarville University assistant psychology professor and licensed professional clinical counselor, shared some insight on some techniques that might help.
Linnell shared strategies for parents navigating difficult conversations. Her guidance centers on helping children feel secure while processing traumatic events.
"Even research tells us that one caring adult in the life of a child allows them to weather through the worst of adversity," Linnell said, emphasizing that parents should be that crucial supportive figure for their children.
