A British tourist has died during a holiday in Greece after experiencing a mysterious pain in his side. ‌

Alan Kirby, 67, suffered septic shock and was put on a ventilator in a hospital in Athens before he tragically passed away on Monday, August 25. ‌

He had originally believed the pain was caused by playing with his stepdaughter's children in the sea. When he woke up short of breath, he consulted a doctor, who advised he return to the UK for a biopsy on a mass in his lung, which they were worried was cancerous . ‌

However, his health deteriorated before he could make the trip on a commercial flight, and he was airlifted to a private hospital in the Greek capital.
