AIKEN — The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education paid a visit to an Aiken school this week.

South Aiken High School hosted on Aug. 27 the commission’s first event in the state this season, in which representatives from multiple universities such as Winthrop, Paine College, USC Aiken , Aiken Tech and Lander spoke about their institutions and helped seniors fill out applications.

During College Application Month, which runs from August to November, students have the chance to take advantage of waived application fees.

“Sixty five dollars to apply to a college that you can’t guarantee you’re going to get in, I think it’s like, somewhat a waste of money because that could be something that can go to gas or like, help out the family at home,” said one senior, Jayden Broughton. “So
