Every year on August 31, International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is recognized globally as a day to remember those who have died from the toxic drug supply and to acknowledge the grief of the family and friends impacted by their loss.
This year’s event in Timmins takes place on Thursday Aug. 28th, indoors at the Anti-Hunger Coalition at 187 Cedar Street S. beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Words from key speakers will be followed by an appreciation barbeque from noon to 1:00 p.m. for frontline workers, including people with lived and living experience and their family members.
There will be a sacred fire held at Timmins Native Friendship Centre during the proceedings to honour those lost.
