Four people were arrested and two men taken to hospital after a fight sparked a targeted shooting in the Centreville area of Kitchener, police said.

Waterloo Regional Police said the shooting occurred Wednesday, at 2 p.m., near Weber Street and Kinzie Avenue, when two men got in a fight and one was hit with a hammer and the other shot.

Both men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three men were arrested — ages 36, 31 and 20 — as well as a 40-year-old woman.

The 20-year-old, from Hamilton, was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of restricted firearm, and unauthorized possession of restricted firearm with ammunition.
