BUCHANAN, Ga. — Anthony Scott was removed from office Thursday as mayor of Buchanan, Georgia, the day after his conviction on vehicular homicide and other charges.

Scott had served as mayor since his election in 2019, just weeks after a mistrial was declared the first time he was tried in the 2015 crash that killed two teenage girls. A jury in Carroll County on Wednesday convicted him on one of two second degree vehicular homicide charges in the retrial of the case, as well as two counts of serious injury by vehicle, speeding and reckless driving.
