CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A furry friend from Cherokee County is earning national attention for helping crime victims feel safe, seen and supported.

Parker, a 2-year-old standard poodle, works in the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office as a therapy dog. His calm demeanor helps children and adults feel more comfortable as they testify or navigate traumatic experiences.

Now, Parker is up for a major recognition: he’s a top-five semi-finalist in the American Humane Society’s “Emerging Hero Dog” category.
