Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Monday morning that a man from Lumberton had been arrested following an incident alleged to have occurred in the north end of the county on Sunday evening.

According to Havard, the investigation began shortly before 7 when deputies responded to a call on County Road 222 in "Tiger Creek" where it was reported that an assault had taken place.

Havard said when deputies arrived, it was discovered the victim and her three-month-old baby both had visible injuries, said Havard. However, Havard said the suspect had already left by the time officers got there.

Based on information obtained from the complainant and other witnesses a warrant was obtained for the arrest Remington Boykin, 26, of Lumberton.
