Festival Conference Center at James Madison University was packed Sunday evening as Abigail Spanberger, Democratic candidate for Virginia governor, addressed Democrats from all over the Shenandoah Valley at the Harrisonburg and Rockingham Democrats Labor Day Dinner.

Hundreds of people cheered as Spanberger and her running mates, state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, D-Richmond, and Jay Jones, a former delegate representing Norfolk, took to the stage to explain their top priorities if they win the election in November.

Spanberger said that public education and affordable housing would be among her top priorities if she were elected governor.
