TRAVERSE CITY — Schools around the region are welcoming back students with new facilities, new hires and the same old excitement.

Most schools in the Grand Traverse, Antrim, Benzie, Kalkaska and Leelanau county region are celebrating their first day back in session today and school leaders are excited to share what’s new in their districts.
