WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Watertown has been overlooked for millions of dollars in grant money from the Department of Defense to pay for upgrades to the city’s drinking water anytime soon.

“I’m disappointed, I certainly thought we would have better odds this time around,” said Watertown Mayor Sarah Pierce.

It’s the third time the city got no funding from the Defense Community Infrastructure Program, a grant program run through the Department of Defense and awarded to military communities where infrastructure upgrades are needed.

The city was hoping for $15 million in grant money, which would go toward its $58 million water treatment project.
